QuickBooks Encryption/Decryption Errors

Although Intuit indicated that the R7 & R8 releases for QuickBooks 2013 “intended to deal with several ‘encryption/decryption’ errors that have plagued QuickBooks in recent versions, especially as they relate to credit-card numbers”, there continue to be problems with these errors.

Do NOT run a rebuild if you encounter one of these errors  as stated in the Intuit KBA (SLN71415)  saying: “IMPORTANT: If you receive this message with QuickBooks opened or the error displays in the Qbwin.log, do not rebuild because this will not fix the issue and can cause additional problems…”

You can see more about this current problem (BELOW) as described by William “Bill” Murphy. Bill is a Certified Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor and has served as Technical Editor for “Business Analysis with QuickBooks” by Wiley Publishing in 2009, and made technical contributions for the Chapter on “Managing Your QuickBooks Database” in Laura Madeira’s new book “QuickBooks 2012 In Depth” recently published by QUE. He is a frequent contirbuting author to the Sleeter Group “QuickBooks and Beyond” Blog.
